Animals and animal rescue have always been important to the Matzan-Fried family.
Over our years together, we have had 10 animal tails.
Every tail has a tale. Every tail was rescued.
Ginny is our COVID, foster fail puppy. Originally a short-term puppy foster, we "foster failed" in late July. Ginny is Great Pyrenees/Husky mix. Her attitude is all husky, but her poor shoulder was Great Pyrenees. She had surgery in December 202 leading to her fancy hair cut!

Nigel is our first family dog and was adopted in February 2020. Nigel is a loveable Pitbull super-mutt! Nigel is often referred to as the Peaceful Pitbull (compared to his sister, the Hectic Husky). Nigel is the happiest dog in the world, loves everyone and is convinced he is a lap dog (he's 70 lbs).

Trouble the Cat was Tara's pre-marriage cat. found as a stray during Tara's time in Memphis. Did you know that 30% of black cats in animal shelters are euthanized? Knowing Trouble's odds in a shelter, Tara decided to keep Trouble.
Trouble crossed the rainbow bridge in April 2021 at 16 years old.
Spike and Louie were bonded brothers that were initially adopted by a relative. Due to allergies, they came to stay with us, spent a few years living with close family friends, and then came back to us to live out their senior years. Extremely sweet and loving, they would often sit with Matt while he worked on his computer.
Louie passed in March 2020 and Spike died in November 2016.
Nokita was Matt's pre-marriage cat and was adopted while Matt was living in Keene. Nokita was the sweetest, most loving cat. He loved eating, sleeping, begging for food, and cuddling with Matt on the couch. Pixie was adopted from a bunny rescue group in Pennsylvania as a companion for Harvey after Hazel's passing. After a great initial connection, Harvey decided to remain a widower. Instead, Mr. Emily welcomed her as his companion.

Hazel and Harvey were a bonded pair of bunnies that Tara adopted from Houston's Bunny Buddies. They moved with her from Houston to Memphis, Memphis to CT, CT to Ossining, NY.
Hazel crossed the rainbow bridge in 2008 and Harvey crossed in 2010.
Mr. Emily came to Tara through another member of Bunny Buddies. At 8 weeks old, Mr. Emily, his siblings and his mother were all attacked by a dog while living in an outdoor hutch. Mr. Emily was the only survivor. Mr. Emily got his name during his recovery, when it was discovered that "she" was actually a "he".
Mr. Emily crossed the bridge in 2010.
